'She was so happy that she made everyone around her happy too.' This is a quote that would usually describe Heidi, but the same can be said about young, ten-year old Shuaa from Year 6A. She is a chatty little girl, full of life, who is entranced by almost everything her surroundings have to offer. Though she is a little shy at first, it doesn’t take long for her to open up. Shuaa analyses every statement she utters. She finds logic in everything, and portrays it excellently, leaving her audience in awe.
One of the greatest life lessons she has learnt from her father is; "everything you study is connected by a link. Or rather it is like a wall. Even if one brick is missing, the whole wall collapses." Shuaa’s favourite subjects are Science, English and Math (ranked in the order of her preference). When I expressed my distaste for math, she giggled and replied, “Those who find math hard find it so because they rush through the subject, in order to finish it up.” She further went on to say how she had once disliked math, but she then understood the roots of her problem and worked on it by proceeding slower, and more steadily with her work. Such advice, from a young girl, barely in her teens, is quite impressive. And it doesn’t end there... Shuaa has also participated in the spelling bee contest and has stood 1 st in the school level, 2 nd at gulf level, and 8 th internationally. She even had to miss school for a week, in order to attend the competition overseas. She sheepishly revealed that while in Bangalore, her mother called her after the results were out as she was eager to know her daughters rank. But just like any other kid, she let the suspense hang in the air, and the tension became so thick, it couldn’t have been cut with a knife. But that was until Shuaa’s dad urged her to reveal the results that her mother was keenly anticipating. Naturally, she was overjoyed, and quite proud of her daughter.
Shuaa is also in the midst of writing her book called ‘AMELIA’. However, to our dismay, we have to wait a long way before it releases, and once again Shuaa has kept us waiting. But, the fruit of patience is always sweet, and we can’t help but wait, to have our own sweet taste of her novel. Pretty soon the world is going to need some powerful shades as there is a shining star arriving, and it won’t be very long.
